"The Truth of Five"
So our film made the top ten in the festival tonight!!!! I can't explain how excited I was. As I was sitting there, in the largest theatre I've ever been in, I began to get a little nervous. I mean come on, they put you on the edge of your seat all night (basically all week) just waiting in the dark silence to find out if your film will be the next shown, or if it is even going to be shown at all (the top ten were shown in random order). I didn't really know what to expect, then they finally dimmed the lights and we all read "Film 1" on the screen. Long pause while it went black and we read the words "The Truth of Five." I had just told Britt the title of our film but when I read it up there it took me a second. Then I just screamed. I couldn't help it:) It was the first one to show! Granted, it didn't get quite the audience reaction I hoped for. All I have to say to that was just wait till they watch it a few more times on the dvd. We didn't win any awards and the films that did (at least first prize) definitly deserved the prizes they received! Okay that's all for now, I will most certainly put a link up soon once we can get at least ours, and hopefully others onto youtube.com. Good night ya'll!

I think I can...I think I can....
On second thought, I hope no one from school reads that last post...
PROBLEM: Marissa is completely in charge of planning a "Harvest Party" for 200 WCBC children.
REASON THIS IS A PROBLEM: Marissa was asked to do this less than 4 weeks before the party, this is the busiest month for projects at school, AND she is going to be out of town the night this party is supposed to take place!
SOLUTION: ?????
I know one thing, I can't just give up on it. I have a responsibility given to me that I accepted and people are counting on me to complete the task and do it to the best of my ability. Now that I have established that rule in my mind, I have to face the fact that I have 7 and 1/2 days before this party starts and I basically have nothing done. God, help me!
---------------------------------------------
I have some of the most fun people in my class. Thursday and Friday were shooting days for a short film written by a man, Rick, who helped found our school. He flew into town Wednesday and allowed us all roles in the making of his film. I was called "craft services." Not super exciting but in a way it was just my element. They gave me a basic outline for what we were eating for lunches both days and also had crew list a few snacks they wanted me to get. So I went shopping and set up tables for lunch/snacks and ordered and picked up lunches. It was all well and good except I went $50 over our $200 budget. Oops! Anyways, that job was fun because there were two guys in my class in particular who were both so encouraging and complimentative (word? not word? word.) on my job and my baking. That just made my day. I learned a lot in those two days, even if I still don't know how to work the camera or exactly what a grip does.
Starting Friday night at 9 going to Saturday night at 9 was what was called the 24 hour film festival. So after the two mornings of waking up at 5:30 for Rick's shoot, I had to stay up another 24 hours to make another one! If you don't know what a 24 hour film festival is, it's basically just like any other film festival where you and your team write, direct, shoot and edit a short film (usually 5-10 min. long) and present it to the judges of that festival and your goal is to win money and get people/film critics to like you and your film! The major twist in this festival though is in it's title...we had exactly 24 hours to do everything. I was in a group with about 10 of my other classmates (which totally rocked, getting to know them better). We met at our producer's house while he was representing our group at the "Producer's meeting" where they gave us our criteria that had to be in each film that was entered. They do this stuff to make sure no one makes a film ahead of time. Each film had to have the theme of "last 5 min. of your life", they all had to have a squirtgun as a prop, a playground as a location and a line saying, "Would it help if I got out and pushed?" "It might!" SO... I won't try and explain our story on here at all but I will post the link to youtube.com once I get it uploaded to there. Hm I think that's all for tonight, I could go on forever and ever but nothing profound is coming forth from my lips so I best depart. Fare thee well my faithful.

Random
Wouldn't it stink to be a far-sighted person...You would never be able to pluck your eye brows. Not that that's an enjoyable activity, just necessary for some faces. Speaking of faces, I just pulled off one of those nose pore strips - ever tried 'em? They rock! Call me weird but I get a kick out of seeing all the nasty oil blockages that come up with them.
Anyways, in case anyone still reads this and was worried, I am still loving my school. It's fun getting to know new people. I can't wait to find out if it's really just WC boys who are scared to ask girls (me) out on a regular ol' American date (you know, like you see in movies, at least that's the only place I've seen 'em;) or if it's all guys...That maybe didn't come out as clear as I wanted it too. haha anyways, just a fun little "side-experiment."
What else is new, I'll stop with the work and depression complaints for a time. Man, I think that's all. I have been struggling with PATIENCE so badly lately. I mean come on, I'm almost 23 years old, I have struggled with it almost every one of those days - don't you think I should have it all figured out by now?
-Here's a story that had me laughing all day.-
This morning I brought the kids over to my parents' house to play for a little while before naptime. After lunch my mom had to go outside and weed the garden a little bit and McKenna volunteered to help her. I helped her get her little jacket on and followed her outside. My mom was telling Kenners to catch up to her so she could help get the wheel barrel (if only I could record how she says that word) from the back. Well my mom noticed that she wasn't walking and it looked like she had a piece of tape on her fingers that she was trying with all her little two year old determination to shake off her hand. My mom goes, "what'cha got there?" And, in her adorable, serious, little voice she just says, "a booger" as she continues to try and shake that sticky little thing off her fingers.
