happy droid

Where did the weekend go? My parents and Annetta drove down this past Friday and arrived in Lynchburg Friday night. They left this morning to drive back and they left Annetta here! It's so weird to think about, Nett lives right down the road from me at Libery University. I haven't seen her yet, outside of my parents being here, so it will probably take a little bit for that reality to sink in. It'll be fun to have her here! I hope she loves her college experience here and means a ton of amazing people and touches many lives as well.

I know Dennis is reading this, but I must sing his praises for a minute. He gets along so well with my family and they just love him. I don't have to worry about leaving him alone in the room with my parents, he doesn't freak out about that. He even invited my dad to go watch football with the guys. He didn't have to hang out with us at all but he did, and it made for a very enjoyable weekend.

My last exciting event of the weekend was getting my new DROID Eris. It's uber sweet. I hadn't planned on getting a new phone until February when my phone was eligable for an upgrade but unavoidable circumstances lead to me purchasing this new, amazing, device. Well... some might argue with the 'unavoidable.' I was getting ready to go to dinner with the family on Saturday night and decided to throw a quick load of my sheets into the laundry. I started the washer and started looking for my phone. I had just heard the text alert go off so I needed to make sure it wasn't Dennis asking me something before he headed over. I searched high and low for the thing. I unfolded all my blankets that I had taken off my bed, moved my bed and searched by headlamp... couldn't find the darn thing! I ran upstairs and texted my mom from my computer and asked her to call my phone. I ran back down to listen to it but the washer was SO loud in my room that I stopped it mid cycle so that I could listen. No luck. Dennis came and we were running late for dinner so I just left figuring I'd look for it when we got back (and forgetting to restart the washer). My mom and I looked again, EVERYWHERE. Then this little inkling of a thought came to my mind. The last time I saw it was on my bed, what if it went in the washer with my sheets? Naw... I'm smarter than that! I knew my phone was on my bed, I would never be that person to do something like that. So I started the washer and we went back upstairs with no luck and no phone. It didn't take much convincing on their part to make me look in the washer. So I went down, opened the lid, not at ALL expecting to see anything, but there it was. That shiny, blue chocolate - sitting in a foot of water. And not only was it just sitting there, but it HAD BEEN sitting there, in the pool, for a good few hours. Tried putting it in a baggie with rice to help absorb the water, but no luck. I felt so dumb, I'm not the kind of girl that stuff happens to. Oh well, I have a droid, all has worked out for the best... ;-)
